Your information should have a clear purpose.
This policy explains what Get Internet collects through the Starlink website, Client Portal and Technician Portal, why we use it, who may receive it, and the choices available to you.
Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 21, 2026 · Policy version 2026-08-21-v2.69.5
Who is responsible for the information
Get Internet ("Get Internet", "we", "us"), operates this Starlink installation website and the related customer and technician workflow. Privacy questions and requests can be sent to info@get-internet.ca.
Information we collect
Depending on how you use the service, we may collect your name, email address, phone number, service address, city/community, province, postal code, property type, current internet situation, property or obstruction notes, Starlink kit model, service-area qualification, appointment history, products and services added to your account, charge and payment status, waitlist status, service communications and marketing preference. For technicians, we may also maintain worker classification, contractor tax settings, assigned/completed work, internal job-pay rates, gross earnings or contractor-pay totals, approval/payment status and related payroll/accounting records. The Technician Portal may also collect classification-based compliance documents and metadata, including Working at Heights certificates and, for contractors, WSIB clearance and commercial-liability insurance records, issue and expiry dates, certificate/policy/reference numbers, stated coverage amounts, additional-insured confirmation, review notes and review status.
When automatic service-area qualification is enabled, we may convert the submitted installation address to latitude and longitude so it can be compared with active technician service zones and availability. We also maintain the address and coordinates associated with a booked appointment as a booking snapshot so a later profile edit does not silently change a technician's scheduled destination.
Installer opportunity applications
When someone applies for an independent installer or subcontractor opportunity, we collect the information supplied in the application, which may include name, contact information, home city and postal code, preferred Ontario service regions, travel radius, business status and business name, vehicle and driver’s-licence readiness, tools and ladders, Working at Heights status and expiry, WSIB status, commercial-liability insurance status and coverage, additional-insured readiness, GST/HST registration status, experience, availability, referral source and the attached résumé.
We use applicant information to assess suitability, service-territory demand, availability, qualifications and compliance readiness; communicate about the application; conduct interviews or follow-up; and, where an applicant is accepted, support onboarding into a separately documented subcontractor relationship. Submitting an application does not create an employment or contractor relationship and is not treated as consent to marketing.
Résumés are validated, encrypted at rest and stored in protected application storage rather than the public WordPress Media Library. Résumés are available only to authorized WordPress administrators through an authenticated, logged action and are not attached to the application notification email. We may retain approved or active-candidate information for onboarding, contractor administration, audit, dispute-resolution and legal purposes. Applications marked declined or archived are automatically scheduled for deletion after the configured retention period, which is 24 months by default and may be set between 6 and 60 months. The related encrypted résumé is deleted with the application record.
Installation photographs
For a completed installation, the assigned technician may take and upload a photograph of the finished Starlink installation. The photograph is used to document the completed work, support quality control, service history and the workmanship warranty. Customers do not upload or replace these technician completion photographs through the Client Portal.
Newly uploaded completion photographs are re-encoded before storage, which removes ordinary embedded EXIF/device metadata, and are stored outside the normal public WordPress Media Library workflow and encrypted at rest. Access is delivered through an authenticated request and is limited to authorized administrators, the applicable customer and the active technician assigned to that appointment. Legacy installation photographs are migrated into the protected storage system when readable, and the prior Media Library attachment is removed after a successful protected copy is linked to the customer record.
Security and audit information
For account protection and evidentiary records, we may store technical security information such as hashed representations of the requesting IP address and browser/user-agent, session records, reset-attempt counters, timestamps, policy versions and cryptographic hashes of accepted agreement records. These hashes are used for security and integrity checking; they are not used for behavioural advertising.
Why we use the information
We use personal information to assess whether we currently service an address, respond to inquiries, operate and secure the Client Portal, prepare for the correct equipment, determine technician skills/routing/availability, schedule and complete work, maintain installation and service history, manage charges and payment status, provide customer support, administer the workmanship warranty, maintain a customer-requested future-service waitlist, maintain transaction and consent records, prevent misuse and comply with legal, accounting and business-record obligations.
Address geocoding
Automatic geocoding is performed server-to-server using the geocoding provider configured by Get Internet. The current workflow is designed to use the Google Geocoding API when configured with a restricted server-side API key; it does not use the public OpenStreetMap Nominatim service for customer street addresses. If automatic geocoding is unavailable, the address may remain unverified until staff can review it or the geocoding configuration is restored.
Service providers and disclosures
We may provide information to service providers only as reasonably required to operate the workflow. These may include WordPress/website hosting and database infrastructure, transactional email delivery, the configured address-geocoding provider, payment processors, and Zoho Campaigns for internal Property Check lead administration. A valid Property Check may be synchronized to a private Get Internet – Starlink Customers Zoho list whether the address is inside or outside the current service area. The synchronized record may include contact details, service address, lead source, service-area result, booking status and marketing-preference status. Contacts without confirmed optional marketing consent are requested as non-marketing contacts and are not to be used for promotional campaigns. Assigned technicians receive the customer and job information reasonably required to perform their assigned work. We do not sell customer information to advertisers.
If you follow a link to Starlink, an app store, a payment provider or a recommended retailer, that organization operates under its own privacy terms.
Payments
When online payment is enabled, payment-card details are collected by the selected secure payment provider rather than stored as full card numbers in the Get Internet WordPress database. We retain the related description, amount, tax, payment status and transaction workflow information needed to administer the account.
Service communications, waitlists and marketing
Operational messages about a request, portal access, appointment, installation, payment, account balance, warranty matter or customer-requested waitlist are service communications. Optional marketing consent is separate. A Property Check, portal account or waitlist request is not treated as automatic consent to unrelated promotional email.
All valid Property Check leads may be synchronized to Zoho Campaigns for internal lead administration, but marketing treatment is recorded separately. Without confirmed optional consent, the integration requests non-marketing treatment. When you opt into marketing, we record the consent source, timestamp and policy version and request marketing treatment only after the required confirmation. If you withdraw marketing consent through the portal, we record the withdrawal without erasing the earlier consent history and attempt to unsubscribe the contact from the configured Zoho Campaigns list. You can also contact us at info@get-internet.ca to withdraw optional marketing consent.
Technician completed-work and pay records
When an assigned job is completed, Get Internet may create an internal completed-work record containing the technician, worker classification in effect at completion, appointment type/date, customer display name and city, Starlink kit, work performed, internal employee or contractor pay lines, contractor tax where applicable, total payable and approval/payment status. Customer selling prices and payment-card details are not displayed in the Technician Portal pay view.
A technician can access only their own completed-work records through the authenticated Technician Portal. Authorized office administrators can review and update pay status. To preserve payroll, contractor, tax, accounting and dispute records, a completed-work pay record may be retained after the operational customer record is deleted; in that case the customer name, city and client link are anonymized in the retained pay ledger.
Technician compliance documents
The active document requirement is determined by the technician classification stored in the system. An employee is asked for Working at Heights only. A contractor is asked for Working at Heights, current WSIB clearance, and current commercial general liability insurance showing at least $2 million in coverage and meeting the additional-insured requirements provided during private contractor onboarding. Changing a classification changes which records are treated as currently required; it does not alter completed-work pay records.
Uploaded technician compliance files are limited to supported PDFs and images. Supported images are re-encoded to remove ordinary embedded metadata, and all accepted files are encrypted at rest in protected storage rather than published through the WordPress Media Library. Access is provided through an authenticated request to the technician who owns the record while that technician remains active and to authorized WordPress administrators. The office may approve, reject or revoke a submitted record and may retain prior versions and review history for safety, employment/contractor administration, insurance, audit, dispute-resolution and legal record purposes. Contractor-only records may remain securely retained as historical records when a technician is reclassified as an employee, but they are not treated as employee requirements.
Agreement and transaction records
If you accept installation terms through the Client Portal, we keep an audit record containing the policy version, the text/hash of the applicable Terms and Installation Policy, the transaction information captured at acceptance, and the acceptance timestamp. A customer copy is sent by email and remains available for download through the signed-in Client Portal while the account and record are retained.
Cookies, analytics and advertising measurement
The Client Portal and Technician Portal use secure session cookies/tokens for authenticated access, and WordPress uses administrative cookies for authorized staff. These are used for account security and site operation. On public Starlink marketing pages, Get Internet may also load the TikTok Pixel to measure advertising performance, page visits and campaign attribution. After a valid Property Check is successfully saved, the site may record a TikTok Lead conversion event. When a customer is redirected back from a hosted payment checkout to the dedicated Payment Received page, the public page may also record a TikTok CompletePayment conversion event. The event does not intentionally include the submitted name, email address, phone number or service address. TikTok may receive browser/device, cookie and page-interaction information under its own privacy terms. Get Internet does not intentionally send authenticated Client Portal or Technician Portal account/payment/job fields to TikTok, and the TikTok Pixel is not loaded inside those private portals.
Retention
We keep personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described above, including providing service, administering warranty and support, maintaining requested waitlists, protecting accounts, resolving disputes and meeting payroll, contractor, tax, accounting, contractual or legal record requirements. When information is no longer required, it may be deleted or anonymized. A deletion request may not require us to destroy records that we must or reasonably need to retain for those purposes.
Safeguards
Safeguards include role/capability restrictions, nonce and server-side authorization checks, HTTPS-dependent secure cookies, hashed portal-session tokens, rate limiting for sensitive authentication actions, protected installation-photo storage, restricted administrator access, encrypted storage for supported integration secrets, and validation/sanitization/escaping controls. No internet-based system can be guaranteed completely secure.
Processing outside Canada
Some hosting, email, geocoding, payment or software providers may process or store information outside Canada. Information handled in another jurisdiction may be subject to the laws and lawful-access rules of that jurisdiction. We limit disclosures to what is reasonably required for the applicable service.
Your choices and access rights
You may contact us to request access to or correction of personal information, ask how it has been used or disclosed, withdraw optional marketing consent, or request deletion of information that is no longer required, subject to legitimate retention requirements. We may need to verify identity before fulfilling an account-specific request.
Policy changes
We may update this policy when the service or legal requirements change. The current version and updated date are posted here. Historical transaction acceptance records retain the policy version that applied when the customer accepted them.

Marketing confirmation
A marketing request made on the public Property Check is not activated until the supplied email address confirms the request. Authenticated Client Portal preference changes can be applied immediately. Marketing is optional and separate from service communications.
